Macris gets First Place in State Mathcounts Competition in Monterrey, Mexico!
After obtaining the Central American Gold Medal at the Chapter Mathcounts in El Salvador, Omar Suazo, an 8th grade student at Macris School, managed to obtain the State Goldcounts Individual Gold Medal in Mexico again, competing with around 150 students.
In February, Omar won the Individual Gold Medal in the MathCounts competition held in El Salvador, a position that was contested between five countries, 22 schools and 220 students. And now, a month after the Chapter MathCounts, he again achieved the Gold Medal at the State MathCounts where three Central American countries competed: Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras, the countries that won in El Salvador, and Mexico.
After this success obtained in El Salvador during the first phase of this prestigious mathematics competition, Macris ranked fourth at the group level among 15 participating schools in the State Mathcounts held in Monterrey, Mexico, standing out with great pride among the best in Mesoamerica.
It is worth mentioning that the Gold Medal of the international State Mathcounts competition was previously won by the Macris School in 2018 by the student Ezra Guerrero, which makes this recent Medal the second time that a Macris student has earned this great recognition.
Macris School overall results in the State MathCounts 2020 Competition:
– 1st place: Omar Suazo (Individual Category)
– 4th place: Team A Macris (Group Category)
